"Nearly half a year drug and alcohol free. My last relapse nearly killed me, and could have killed others.

One day at a time.

One if the big things I am dealing with in my recovery is my Gender Dysphoria. The realisation of how much I drank on that. The realisation of the extremely transphobic narratives that subconsciously float around the communities I grew up in. The fact I have been this person my whole life and was always so scared to know what it was hat didn't feel right inside of me....that I drank myself toward a slow and painful death. I never knew how I felt when someone said "you're not man enough" ....

Today, I take that as a compliment!

I came out to a room full of 50 other alcoholics last night, and I was safe, held, hugged and supported. My recovery reached a new level as I'm able to move forward in all that I do as me. As the beautiful non binary existence I am. I am scared to be in certain spaces because of the transphobic bullshit that has been said about me online, but I'm learning learning these people are sick, and I wish them all the love to remove the hatred from their hearts. I am me."
